Creating Your Own Vision Board in Canva
My favorite thing to do to help imagine a new path forward is to create a vision board. I’ve done two each year since 2012 to keep me inspired and motivated.
Vision boards are great visuals for what’s in your heart, mind and spirit.
They anchor what could be into what becomes.
Whether you want to practice more self-care, thrive at work, find a new career, build or envision a new home, find a new partner or just focus on you, you’re in the right place as a vision board is for you.
Pause here to make some tea, light a candle and dive deep into your aspirations.
Creating effective vision boards typically consists of 3 phases:
PHASE 1
Decide on what big, exciting and scary goal you want to work towards
PHASE 2
Think about how you’ll enjoy your life while in pursuit of that goal
PHASE 3
Lastly, put those ideas onto e-paper
This Vision Board Workshop Will help you...
- Gain clarity around your goals (here is a short visualisation soundcloud recording to help you)
- Mindfully set intentions for a year or more
- Identify your innermost goals and dreams
- Unleash your creativity
- Enjoy positive and optimistic vibes from the comfort of your own home!
After completing your vision board you’ll…
- See a clear vision of your life’s most important goals
- Feel ready, inspired, and empowered to take aligned and massive imperfect action towards your dreams
- Have a visual representation (vision board) to remind you of what you’re manifesting
Creating a vision board is for everyone and is beginner-friendly - no experience necessary.
Create your vision board step-by-step using my video tutorial + Canva drag-and-drop template by signing up below!
STEP 1: Think about what you want to manifest.
I use a holistic approach and consider these categories to be the most valuable to get the best results:
Relationships
Mind & Body
Passion & Joy
Career
Wealth & Abundance
In order to visualize your goals, first you need to know what they are. Spend some time getting clear on exactly what you want your ideal life to look like, and what you need to accomplish in the next 12 months to launch you closer to your goals. Use those categories above to help guide you.
Think:
What do I want?
How do I want to feel?
Where do I want to go?
How do I want to show up?
Take a few moments to write some of these thoughts down.
STEP 2: Download images and create a folder for your images on your computer or the cloud
Start to collect images on Pinterest, Unsplash, and other inspiring websites for your vision board. Take into consideration your business & personal life, family, health, spirituality, and any other areas of importance.
Pro tip: If you feel stuck, here are some sites I like to check out for words, art, crafts, design, free images, travel, nature, mindfulness, colors, places, people, money, home, entrepreneurial and ideas.
STEP 3: Import Images into Canva.com
Open a FREE Canva.com account and start to add your images into it. See the “Upload media” on the top left corner of Canva.
Check out this video tutorial if you’re getting stuck importing.
STEP 4: Start building your board
Using the Canva template that you received in my email (after signing up in the box above), you can add more images if you need more and you can also choose from what Canva offers if you type into the search template, “vision board” or “mood board”
STEP 5: Make your vision a reality!
This is the best part! Start adding in all of the things that have given you excitement! The best part of doing this online is that you can take advantage of having images to download or screen-grab and add in more easily than if you were looking through magazines.
When you are done, download this as a PDF to print. Download this as a JPEG or PNG to add to your devices and/or use in social media to let everyone know your dreams.
Sharing with others is a great way to show people what you want so that they can help you get there. Be sure to put your board somewhere where you can see it every single day or often.
Reminder: Allow yourself to make changes or tweak your board as you move forward. Life and goals change. But also trust that what showed up in that moment, too, was perfect.
I personally love seeing people’s boards so please invite me in to see using my email jessicapsandhu@gmail.com so I can take a look and comment. Sometimes sharing with one person is enough. We all need one witness to our life’s goals.
Enjoy vision boarding!
"Jessica helps us anchor into our highest selves by providing the space we need not just to speak what we want into existence, but to be able to see it with our own eyes through this workshop."
Jessica led her signature Vision Board workshop twice during the pandemic for my community of yoga practitioners, students, and friends, who all said they benefited greatly from being led in this activity during a challenging time for all of us. Thanks to Jessica's expert, compassionate, and thoughtful facilitation, each member of my community felt safe and supported to create a visual representation of the dream life they desire to co-create with the Universe. Jessica has a unique and empathetic way of engaging participants in this process by grounding the experience through intention-setting, and encouraging an open-hearted expression of love and creativity through students' vision boards. She encourages students to remain connected to this vision of their most inspired life by regularly checking in and referencing their vision board to guide their choices and actions to be in alignment with their vision. In this way, Jessica helps us anchor into our highest selves by providing the space we need not just to speak what we want into existence, but to be able to see it with our own eyes through this workshop. I will continue to invite Jessica back to facilitate this offering, and highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking to gain clarity and momentum about their own personal vision!-C. Aragon
"I was a vision board skeptic, but after attending Jess’ workshop, I became a vision board enthusiast."
In this workshop, Jess gave us the tools to define our vision and suggested ideas on what to include in our vision boards. Building my vision board was a satisfying and creative process, but it was also introspective and empowering. I look at my vision board everyday to remind me of my priorities and to keep me on track. Jess’ workshops are a fun activity to do with your friends and family. She is engaging, open in sharing her perspectives and gives great feedback.-J. Cho
"Pretty funny to create a vision board right before a global pandemic hit. So much of it manifested though."
I got my financial life in order - took classes on investing and taught myself how to do it and got a plan together to save for retirement. I went hiking in Alaska and Hawaii. I published a book (just came out last month). I got married. I bought that couch (haha). I prioritized sleep and meditation. I worked on transparent communication and healthy eating consistently. Had lots of personal breakthroughs.-Julie P.
