Private Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise that concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. This helps to improve general fitness and overall well-being. Similar to Yoga, Pilates focuses on posture, balance, and flexibility.

Five Reasons to Add Pilates to your Workout Regimen:

  • It can help relieve tension in your shoulders, back, and legs,

  • It boosts your body's natural ability to burn fat,

  • It's a great way to cross-train and prevent injury,

  • It promotes mindfulness and body awareness, and

  • Technically, all you need is a mat.

Change happens through movement and movement heals.
— JOSEPH Pilates

Mat

Mat Pilates includes movements like core exercises and planks and may include extra accessories like stretching bands, sticks, dumbbells, exercise balls, etc. This basic form of Pilates is an excellent choice for beginners who wish to include Pilates in their daily regimen.

Reformer

Reformer Pilates is also great for rehab, as it allows the client to exercise in a horizontal plane of motion and not be vertically loaded and weight-bearing through their legs. For example, suppose a client has had knee surgery or a knee injury. In that case, this horizontal plane enables you to strengthen the leg muscles through a more extensive range of motion using a lighter resistance than their body weight, speeding up their recovery through controlled movement.

The Pilates reformer is traditional equipment resembling a bed with springs, a sliding carriage, ropes, and pulleys. The origins of the Pilates reformer date back to the original Pilates studio in New York in the 1920s, and was designed by Joseph Pilates himself.

This means that the intensity can vary considerably from person to person, making it an incredibly versatile piece of equipment for a workout or rehab tool.
