Creative Visualization is an insanely powerful tool that can help you realize you goals and to help attain the things you want in your life.
You can use visualization to get a clear idea of what you want! Sounds amazing, right?!
What Is Creative Visualization?
Creative visualization is a type of mindfulness exercises that can be used to promote success in every area of life. I teach this kind of meditation and use it in my own life. I actually creative visualization to create this online health coach program! Woot!
Visualization is the process of putting together visual imagery of what you want to happen or see in your life. As you do that, you can tap into the emotions associated with those images as well.
Creative visualization is when you visualize what you want and experience the emotions or feelings you would have if it were true in your body now. Similar to a vision board, but in your own mind. Whoa!
Creative Visualization can be extremely powerful as you’re using your own mind’s eye to create the detailed images of what you want.
And after doing this visualizing, you should feel empowered to take the action needed.
Your Mind is Power!
We’re all constantly thinking about the same things, and those things turn into reality. Sometimes we think about things that we don’t want to happen, a lot, and then you might have noticed that those things DO happen.
If you swap out the good, long-term, and positive goals in instead of those stressful ones where you ruminate about happening, you can make more positive and lasting change happen!
As you change your mindset to what you want, it can start to change your behaviors, feelings, and habits. Thus why creative visualization can be so effective!
You can use creative visualization for therapeutic application where visual imagery can be used to replace and recreate images that are upsetting or cause stress.
This can and should be done with a teacher in person as an individual or a group.
7 Steps To Creative Visualization
Are you looking to get healthy? More fit? Or maybe you’re on the search for a partner. Looking to develop confidence or start a new business. Tap into your reasons and use visualization to manifest. Whatever your goal, be sure to try these basic steps to start using creative visualization to your advantage.
Create The Mood
Be in a relaxed and positive state of mind when you attempt creative visualization. For example, you might go for a peaceful walk, soak in a tub for a bath, or listen to super mellow music. Once you’re there and relaxed, get yourself to a place where you can rest without being disturbed.
The longer you are able to spend working on your visualization, the more effective it is likely to be.
Enter A Meditative State
Creative visualization tends to be most intense and meaningful if you take the time to do it so maybe it means being in a meditative state. Some people need just a few minutes while out on a busy subway and others need super quiet and meditative breathing to get there. I personally add it into my meditation when quiet and I can also do it when sitting in a loud space. I get to bring my awareness to what I want my attention on.
Visualize Your Goal
Once your mind feels still and receptive, start crafting an image of the thing you want, and add in all of the details. For example, if you’re working towards health and wellness goals, imagine yourself running those miles, eating healthy foods, being on vacation feeling healthy and stress-free.
Anticipate Obstacles
This one is important! Understanding and knowing what might come up or the resistance you might experience along the way is important. It might actually be you who is the resistor and that’s ok! We must really know ourselves to move past these very intense and hard things in our own lives. Sometimes we are the harshest critics. But that’s all it is. And anyone else that you might come up against think about them here.
Then think about a few ways to get past it. Like writing your health goals down and putting them on your fridge, making a vision board and putting it up as a reminder, joining a health group or gym. Inviting your family or friends with you. And actually seeing them support you instead of stopping you.
Tap into the Feelings Associated With Your Visualization
Although the most important part of creative visualization is the process described in step three, you’re more likely to see your goals manifest in your life if you allow your visualization experiences to influence the rest of your day.
Find the feelings of pride, happiness, confidence, and peace that you experience when you picture your goal. Super powerful.
Celebrate with Your Family and Friends
This part is ideally threaded throughout. You don’t need to think of your mom or your spouse only. You can think of your mentor or a super supportive friend. Having someone there celebrating with you your newfound health, job, partner, etc. is necessary to truly visualize what you want.
Work for it!
Although creative visualization is incredibly powerful and can certainly play a huge role in allowing you to develop the life you’ve always wanted, you substantially increase your chances of success if you also make concrete steps towards your goals!
