Ten WAYS to Simplify Your Life

It’s always nice to have a quick checklist of things to do in order to simplify ones life. There are definitely many different lists out there to choose from in case this one didn’t work out for you. These are the things that I do pretty regularly. Try it out for yourself!

1. Create Monthly Goals.

Set 1-3 goals each month. This will help you start new habits, break down larger goals into manageable chunks, and achieve things in a more methodical way.

Example:

1. Finish “written” proposal.

2. Go to Yoga 3 times a week.

3. Schedule that vacation.

2. Write all tasks on paper (email tasks INCLUDED).

Actually write out what you need to do. Seeing these tasks on paper helps you prioritize and can help you be more efficient with your time.

3. Do a short morning routine.

I know I don’t always have time for an extended morning routine!

Make things simple and incorporate: water, some movement, and a nourishing breakfast into your morning!

4. Plan your workouts.

Scheduling your workouts in your calendar can really help with accountability and makes sure you feel prepared. There will always be days when things don’t go as planned and that’s ok.

Know when you’re getting your cardio, core work, tennis and stretch!

5. Prepare lunch and snacks the day before.

Preparing or making your food the day (or so) before helps you to make healthier choices. You’ll be healthier, save money and be in more control of getting more delicious things!

Think lentil stews, chickpea salads, and quinoa bowls.

6. Listen to Podcasts and Audiobooks.

When you listen to the good stuff while commuting, cleaning, organizing and more you’ll find you might be able to process the information a little bit better.  You can zone in. You local library has free audiobooks for you!

I also like a lot of free stuff that you can find on Luminary. I love Jay Shetty, Brene Brown, Joe Rogen and  Russell Brand. Here’s a YouTube video conversation with Brene and Russell that’s an absolute treat!

7. Keep healthy snacks on you at all times.

When I used to work at an office, there would always be candy at the ready, someone’s birthday that day/week and multiple happy hours to attend, which all could easily sabotage any health-oriented living. Be sure to keep a healthy stash of good snacks at your desk so you can be prepared for any event!

Think dark chocolate, raw nuts with raisins or dried cranberries, and yogurt with berries.

8. Write our your to-do list before bed.

Take 10 minutes to prepare your to-do list at the end of the day instead of in the morning. You’ll be able to clear your head so you can sleep so much more peacefully!

9. Carry a water bottle.

The best way to stay hydrated (and save the environment), is to carry your own water bottle.

10. Slow down.

Many of us are rushing through life, trying to get a trillion things done while also trying to be present to people, work and ourselves. Take a few minutes to think about the areas of your life where you’ve been rushing, and come up with a plan to slow down and be a little more deliberate. Maybe start with yoga sleep with yoga nidra.

Here’s a free yoga nidra I created for YOU to get yourself down to bed tonight.
