One Small Habit - That's It!! <3

We often don’t think we can do great things when in fact, we can and we can actually do AMAZING things, too. It’s all in the small degrees that we can move mountains. And it starts with something teeny-weeny that grows into something larger than you can imagine.

It’s daily and it’s incremental.

When you do something consistently AND with regulation, it produces more than what a huge effort every now and then could.

Take note as this is what people pay big bucks for! You can apply this to every area in your life.

Some Ideas for You:

  • Read a couple of pages each day (then work your way up to 30 daily pages of a handheld book).

  • Start with a short meditation (think 1-2 minutes) and work your way up to 10-15-30 minutes (now that’ll change your life!!)

  • Have a conversation with someone you never met each day and you’ll be making so many new friends in no time.

  • Do 5 sit-ups each day for a week and then the following week, add another 5 and keep going like that until you reach 100/day or more!!

  • Take a 10 minute walk around your neighborhood every day for a week and then add another 5 minutes each day for the following week and keep going in that progression until you reach a specific goal like hitting 10,000 steps a day.

  • Do a plank for 15 seconds to start for a week and then add 5 seconds the following week until you make it to a minute and then start to add more time after you feel like your plank is solid!

And then try this one habit that’ll really change your life...

Don’t look at social media or read emails before mid-morning. And only hit one (hard/er) thing to complete or start that morning in the time you’re not distracted: write that blog, do that proposal, make that big call, do that research, and more!

Make no exceptions and do it daily!

I talk about this theory when teaching yoga that every time you step on the yoga mat, it’s “compounded yoga interest”. This can be applied to everything in life. Compounded interest is in every action and inaction we take.

So falling into the sofa watching TV/Netflix is an action that is compounding interest to not getting things done. It’s just a habit. Similar to what you think so beware of your own thought patterning. Negative ones can be just as habitual as the good ones (and those are the ones that we’re trying to break away from).

Remember that anything you do can be revolutionary to your life and change everything about you and your trajectory. For me, yoga was something that I started doing randomly and then more regularly and then it affected how I ate and drank and made plans for the weekend and eventually, how I structured my life overall (I think you know what happened thus far!)

But it was something that was incremental in the beginning. Some people prefer to write, cook, read, meditate, hike, walk, and more! Decide on one thing, do it for 90 days (just 3 months or even more!) and see what’s happened in that time.

Let things grow!

When you do something consistently every single day for a year, everything about your life changes. And when you do it for 2-3 years, your life will be so different. You’ll literally be an improved version of you! For me, I now do yoga 6 days a week without thinking about it. It’s just something that I do.

But start with the most important thing first and do that every single day. It will become just what you do every day. NBD.

Trust me, your life will transform.
